For important/urgent parcel and documents in general air mode is preferred which is fastest mode. Shipments travel by air up to the nearest airport and there after by road to last destination. Heavy shipments and parcels in general travel by surface mode that is by road which is cost economical, however takes more travel time. Dangerous goods/hazardous cargo, means substance, material, articles which are covered by IMDG Codes (International Maritime dangerous goods).Adopted by International maritime safety commitee. These goods are supposed to be hazardous because of its corrossive, poisonous, flamable & explosive nature which may cause harm to lives, nature & Property. Not allowed for normal transport. DGR goods are tobe carried only as Per norms given by IMDG, specific container packing/labelling & transport condition. Classification and list of DGR good is available on IMDG web site. Also governed and controlled by Indian Postal Act & IATA (International AirTraffic Association).

Besides DGR goods precious stones/metals/jewellery/cash currancy, many other items are prohibited or banned as per law of perticular country. Such as, items contradictary to religion/tradition of country, gambling items, pornographic material/liturature, medicines,narcotics as per law of the land. Items which can cause harm to natural flora. Antiques and Heritage items come under this category.

As per Indian Postal Act & IATA (International Air Traffic Association) above mentioned items and cash currency is not allowed in any of International or Domestic shipment or cargo under normal conditions.
